Counsel to Youth

Chris used this talk in FHE. He shared some thoughts from a Seminary devotional where this talk was also used. Chris did a nice job. It was a great talk about what to do and what not to do- thing to do and things not to do.
"With all that is going on in the world, with the lowering of moral standards, you young people are being raised in enemy territory."
Pres Packer says this twice, about the youth being in enemy territory.
"Dress modestly; talk reverently; listen to uplofting music. Avoid all immorality and personally degrading practices. Take hold of your life and order yourself to be valiant."

  1. Elder Allen tells this story: While visiting a branch of the church, I sat on the stan observing the young Aaronic Priesthood as they prepared to administer the sacrament. They were impressive in their Sunday attire, doing their best to fulfill their duty as acting ministers on the Lord's errand. The sacrament song's text began"While of these emblems we partake, In Jesus" name and for our sake, Let us remember and be sure our hearts and hands are clean and pure" Just as we were singing, one of the young deacons on the front row looked at his hands that were facing palm up. He was staring intently at those 2 hands, fixed with a gaze, as if to take stock in his spiritual worthiness and make sure his hands were indeed clean and pure. What a great lesson from a dedicated young man. What came to my mind immediately was the scripture: 3Ne.20:41 and DC133:5. This event was for me a vivid reminder that we should all be continually mindful of the Lord's commandment not "to partake of my flesh and blood unworthily"
